The Sylvia Beach Hotel and Tables of Content Restaurant are committed to the health and safety of our guests, diners and staff. As a result of the unfolding Covid-19 crisis, we’ve made the difficult decision to close temporarily and have cancelled all lodging and dinner reservations, effective immediately. We will continue to watch for new information and guidance from public health authorities and adjust our approach as needed, including extending this temporary closure if necessary.
As an historic bed-and-breakfast, we’re not required to close, but we know this is the socially responsible and safest course to follow. We recognize that this is a hardship for the guests who planned to stay here in the coming weeks, and we hope you won’t forget to stay with us again in the future, once this crisis has passed. We’re calling all patrons who have reservations through April 30, to inform them of said cancellations. Someone will be on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to take calls during the closure.
We deeply appreciate the efforts of our diligent staff to quickly implement protocols for safety, but staying open just puts them at too much risk. And we’re keeping tabs on the efforts of Gov. Brown’s office to provide aid, unemployment and sick-leave benefits for those workers affected by the Covid-19 preventive measures. Here’s a link to the state’s recently posted information on applying for unemployment benefits if you’ve been affected by temporary shutdowns at work.
Above all, we appreciate the goodwill of our amazing guests, who have been so understanding during this uncertain time; some have chosen to purchase gift certificates in the amount of their originally planned stay, to redeem once this crisis has passed. We thank you!
