Room types

Each room at the Sylvia Beach Hotel was designed by it’s own “roomer”. Many rooms are original to our 1987 grand opening, and some have been updated since then. Our rooms are immersive and whimsical, reflecting the works of the authors they are named after.

The Sylvia Beach Hotel commands a particularly beautiful coastal panorama, which includes the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The majority of our author-themed rooms look out on this view to the north over Nye Beach and Yaquina Head; these mid-priced rooms are affectionately called “Best Sellers.” There are only three rooms directly over the surf: they are the “Classics,” with their own fireplaces and decks. The least expensive rooms are the “Novels.” They are fun rooms with a garden view.

There are no telephones, televisions, or WiFi in rooms at Sylvia Beach Hotel. The allure is beach quiet—gathering one’s thoughts, writing, reading, and savoring the wonder of ocean and sky. Unplug, unwind, and sleep with your favorite author.
